Family Assisted Ministries Satellite Food Program

Community Presbyterian Church is pleased to partner with Family Assistance Ministries (FAM) to provide volunteer support as well as a satellite location for food distribution and case management for clients in the San Juan Capistrano area.

Family Assistance Ministries is a faith-based, charitable, non-profit organization assisting those in need in Orange County with resources for food, shelter, personalized supportive counsel, and aid, helping clients bridge the gap from dependency to self-sufficiency.

Family Assistance Ministries was founded in 1999 by Ellen Gilchrist who provided rental assistance to FAM's first client. Eviction was avoided, and within 30 days the individual got a full-time job and soon became a self-sufficient and productive member of the community. This humble story articulates the vision of FAM—helping people on the brink of homelessness to become self-sufficient.

Here is how you can help with the FAM (Family Assistance Ministries) Satellite Food Pantry;

  • Food distribution and case management located at Community Presbyterian Church
  • Each Wednesday from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m.
  • Volunteers needed to select and bag food for clients
  • If you would like to help out, please contact Leanne Strommen at
